162/365 Construction

Our town has been putting in new storm drains in our town. This has been more than a 6 month process and thats just the work they have done on our street.

Right now my neighbors are parking in their yard because there is no road in front of their house. There are two cranes, sitting adjacent to our house. To top it all off there is a 16 foot hole in the middle of our road.

Here is some shots....

125/365 Ghost town

On our way home from Wisconsin this weekend Mike and I stopped to plane spot. Unfortunately they had reconfigured the runways due to wind, so our normal spotting grounds were dead. We decided to drive around and scout a new spot, and stumbled upon a deserted subdivision.

All the houses were boarded up and the roads were dead.

Apparently it had all been bought up by the airport for expansion.

It was such an eerie feeling even in the middle of the day. Mike and I agreed it felt very post-apocalyptic.

Here is a sign that was hanging in a couple different parts of the subdivision. Obviously the residents were not all to thrilled about being forced out of their homes.

These signs were posted on every window and every door of all the homes.

45/365 I figured it out...

...a few days ago I posted pictures of some road work. Apparently they are putting in storm sewers. They made it into the front of my house, and wow what a mess. Since they were only about 15 feet from my front door I did get some good pictures.

I have no idea what this machine is but it was huge and pretty cool.

I've seen this guy several times, and this is his usual state of work. Cigar in mouth, and "supervising". I guess there always has to be a third guy watching. Insurance reasons I'm sure. (*wink)

Day 38/365 Road work.

All day today I kept hearing the sound of heavy trucks by the house. So I decided to go explore. They are tearing up the roads by my house.

This is the view from my driveway.

Water main work perhaps?
