Day 123 - Moon and Venus

I did not have my tripod with me this weekend. Soon I'll learn to have all my gear with me no matter where I go.

What did I miss?

My Father-in-law came in and told me that Venus was visible and right next to the moon. So I went out to "shoot the moon (and venus)".

What I learned... When your shooting a full moon you treat it as a bright object and therefore use a fast shutter speed. However, when shooting a moon sliver it significantly reduces the need for fast shutter speed. Infact, I had to slow my shutter speed WAY down, the correct exposure was probably around 2 seconds. I however had no tripod and my makeshift tripod was not working how I'd have liked so, I had to bump up my shutter speed to 1/6, which meant I did not get the shot I wanted but I still wanted to share Venus with those of you who like me had no idea you could see Venus!

Day 105 Monday

This night the moon was especially beautiful and if you've read my blog for a while you can see I have a moon fetish.

Day 81/365 Things That Go Bump in the Night II

I did this the other night with Caide and got so many compliments on it I decided to do it with all the kids. I got good shots of everyone but Peyton, for some reason hers just did not turn out. So I'll add her later. Until then, check out the other 3.

48/365 Night Photography in Black and White

These were taken completely in manual mode, with only the supplemental street and building lights. I'm pretty happy with them for my first attempt.

47/365 More moon shots.

So as I learn the more I am surprised. These pictures were taken with my shutter speed at 1/4000, much much higher than I had ever imagined. I actually used this setting on a whim wondering what would happen. It's the truest color, and best image of the moon I have gotten.

This is obviously enhanced, but I like it.

39/365 Night photo's

My camera and I are fighting. As is Canon and I. So my images are seriously lacking from my usual standards but here is what I was able to pull off yesterday. So disappointed.

I swear this is almost enough to make me switch to Nikon.

Saturday November 15th Day 20/365

Tonight Mike and I went out to get gas and hit the hardware store for some window film to keep in the heat. While we were out we grabbed a bite to eat.

I also took my camera, and played around with shutter speeds some more. I came out with some fun pictures.

We got gas for $1.79!! Can you believe a month ago that it was over $4.00 bucks.

Back when I was a kid, (wow that makes me sound old) when I would apply for a job, even if it were fast food, my mom always made me dress up. I took a snapshot of this kid applying for a job...
